Contract 1
This website has been developed to keep interested parties informed of developments on the first phase of the White Cart Water flood prevention scheme being implemented by Glasgow City Council.
Contract 1 comprises the construction three flood storage areas at Blackhouse (Earn Water), Kirkland Bridge (White Cart Water) and Kittoch Bridge (Kittoch Water).
Works associated with Contract 1 commenced in March 2008. The Blackhouse and Kirkland Bridge storage areas were completed in the autumn of 2010. The Kittoch Bridge storage is fully operational, with the final reinstatement works due to be completed in June/ July 2011.
The boundary of the construction site associated with the Kittoch Bridge flood storage areas has been delineated with stock proof fencing. A plan showing the boundary of the construction site can be accessed below. Access within the construction site is controlled by the contractor, Carillion. Due to significant health and safety risks we regret that no access can be granted to anyone wanting to enter the construction site other than those authorised by the main contractor, Carillion.
